Pastors & leaders
I grew up in Southern California and love the Lord with all my heart! My desire is to help people find and follow Jesus. I sensed God’s call to the ministry in high school and eventually graduated from Bible College and Fuller Seminary in Pasadena, Ca. with a Master’s of Divinity. I went on to serve as a youth pastor and eventually a lead pastor at a number of churches in So. Cal. I love to share God’s Word with biblical insight and practical application. I love sharing life with others in small groups and serving those in need.
I’ve had the privilege of publishing four books in the areas of youth ministry and worship leading, and have written a number of worship songs. By God’s grace and strength, I’ve led nearly 50 short-term mission trips to the inner-cities of California and trips to Mexico and countries in Central & South America. The joy of serving on these trips has been meeting the practical needs of others, sharing the Good News about salvation in Jesus and seeing many become Christians!
I love to spend time with my beautiful wife, Harriet (who is a pediatric oncology nurse) and four amazing kids! I enjoy camping, biking, golf, playing guitar, reading, skiing and watching movies with my family.
My wife Colleen and I moved to Manteca in 2009 when we asked the Lord to bring us to a place that would be strategic for ministry. Since coming to Calvary I have been involved in helping to lead the church through 2 transition periods of the Lead Pastor. I’ve been married to my wife Colleen for over 40 years and together we have 2 grown daughters and 5 grandchildren. I enjoy being a grandparent and trying to keep up with my grandkids, motorcycle riding with my wife on the back, fishing, spending time at the cabin in the mountains, and working with the great team of Pastors and Directors we have here.
Jim and Betty Anne have 3 grown sons and have lived in the Greater Manteca area since 1992. Jim was formerly on staff as Administrative Pastor from 1999 to 2017. Currently Jim is volunteering as Minister of Congregational Care on a half-time basis. Previously Jim has been a church-planter, re-started churches and served as a Lead Pastor. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration, a Masters of Divinity degree, and has completed all Doctrinal requirements for the Doctor of Ministry degree from Talbot Theological Seminary. His passion is to see people grow in Christ and serve Him.
I love being a Children’s Pastor! I grew up in San Mateo in a home where my parents loved Jesus with their whole heart. It’s because of them that I came to know Christ at a young age. I grew to love Jesus more and more as a young adult. After attending Bible College in Oregon, God called me into teaching and from teaching He called me into full time ministry. I completed my Master’s Degree in Educational Administration. I served at my previous church in San Mateo for 17 wonderful years. In 2001 God called me to serve here at Calvary. I love the team that God has built here at Calvary to teach our children about Jesus.
I grew up in Vietnam until my family immigrated to San Rafael, CA in 1994. I enrolled as a part-time student at the Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary in the Fall of 2005, and graduated with a Master of Divinity in the Spring of 2014. During those 9 years, I worked full-time for Wells Fargo Bank and Chase Bank while ministering to youths and young adults in San Francisco on the weekends. I met my wife Rachel on a mission trip to Malaysia in 2006, and we got married in 2010. Rachel and I enjoy traveling, trying new foods, and learning about different cultures. My favorites hobbies are: playing soccer and reading good books. I love to connect with young adults about God and life over coffee.
As a child, Roman Catholicism defined my worldview. As a freshman in college, I surrendered my life to Jesus and developed a heart for music ministry and missions work. I have a Bachelor of Music degree in “jazz drumming” from CSU-Los Angeles and have also studied theology at Fuller Theological Seminary and Western Seminary. My family came to Calvary in January, 2018, and I enjoy building up the worship arts and tech ministries here. We have an amazing team of Christ-centered people who use their gifts and talents to lead worship and exalt Jesus. I am humbled and blessed to lead and learn from them as we share our lives together. Swimming, cycling and hiking are some of my favorite activities. I also enjoy spicy foods, board games, traveling and watching sports. Just don’t ask me who my favorite teams are. You’ll likely be disappointed!
I am happily married to my husband Rich. We have 4 children—one still at home—and 2 grand-babies. I am very passionate about sharing the gospel and seeing lives transformed by the power of Jesus Christ. As Director of Living Well Ministries, I have the privilege of experiencing this on a daily basis. I enjoy working with our community. I have the honor of being a part of our community’s homeless task force and also sitting on the board of Hope Ministries, a homeless shelter in town. I have completed the MLC program at Western Seminary and earned many coaching certifications from there.
I became a follower of Jesus at the age of 11 during a Junior High summer camp and since then I have been following Jesus passionately. Currently I serve as the Director for Student Ministries at Calvary. My goal is to see students experience the love of Jesus and to follow him with their whole heart. I am currently pursuing a degree in Ministry Leadership through Northwest University. I am married to my beautiful wife Atlantah and we have an awesome son named Zander.
