Eagles Wings: Special Needs Ministry to Children
Adventure Camp — Preschool / K.
We look forward to meeting your children.
Children are important to Jesus and therefore they are important to us. At Calvary Community Church we believe that children can know Jesus and that is why we have Children’s Programming and not childcare. We base all of our programming on Luke 2:52,
“And Jesus grew in Wisdom (academic)
And in Stature (physical)
And in favor with God (spiritual)
And man (social).”
Every child will learn in a safe, secure, loving and God-honoring environment. Our goal is to win children to the Lord, teach them God’s Word and show them by our example that a life lived with Jesus is a life to be shared with others.
All of our Children’s Ministry team have gone through a background check, fingerprinted and interviewed by Ministry Leaders. We want you to know that we will do our best to place the finest staff members with your children.
Come by and see us on Sundays or Wednesdays and meet the team.
Lions N' Lambs Preschool & Kindergarten
Lions N’ Lambs opened its doors in September 2003 with four preschool classes and nine teachers serving children from the age of two years nine months to 5 years old. In 2004, we added a kindergarten class and two teachers. Our school has since grown to 9 morning preschool classes and 4 afternoon preschool classes, 2 kindergarten classes, and an enhancement program in the afternoon, called “Stay N’ Play”, which is offered all 5 days. With the growth of the school we now have 19 teachers that are dedicated to giving your child a great learning experience.
Lions N’ Lambs Preschool/Kindergarten is licensed by the State of California (License #393608939) and is a member of the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI).
6 weeks — 30 months
Rooms 108 – 110
Excellent, quality care is provided for our youngest children. The nursery is open 15 minutes before each of the services. The Nursery Department is divided into three rooms: Infants/Crawlers, Steady Walkers, and Young 2s. Parents are given a pager so that we can call you if your child needs you, and children are only released to a parent with a pager.
Children’s Ministry Buddy
“Everybody needs some buddy” is a ministry for families with special needs. Our goal is to be “inclusive,” which means we assign children with special needs a “buddy,” who assists them while they are at church to mainstream the child into their age appropriate classroom. Our vision is to reach ALL children with the truth about God’s love for them.
Pre-School — K

To Love and accept children as they are. To have people who are motivated and excited to be with and learn from these special children. To believe that special needs children can love God and serve their world. To share God’s heart and help to bring hope, healing, and acceptance to families who may feel left out at church. Eagle’s Wings “They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” Isaiah 40:31
Eagle’s Wings is a small class for children with special needs. We offer Bible lessons and a craft project. Two caring teachers provide an atmosphere where God and His love are the focus.
AWANA helps churches and parents work together to develop spiritually strong children and youth who faithfully follow Jesus Christ. Our programs offer a proven approach for evangelizing and discipling kids in the church and community.
"Do your best to present yourself to God as approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth." —2 Timothy 2:15
AWANA’s goal is to reach boys and girls with the gospel of Christ and train them to serve Him.
We meet Wednesday evenings from August – May at 6:15 – 8:00 pm.
Learn about each of our programs
Cubbies (3 & 4 year olds)
The AWANA Cubbie program is designed to teach young children the gospel of Christ. This is done through Scripture memorization, games, puppets, crafts, story time and awards. AWANA uses Bible-centered handbooks to give your child a firm foundation in Christ. (Must be 3 by September 1 and potty trained)
Sparks (Kindergarten — 2nd Grade)
The AWANA Sparks program combines learning and fun to teach children about the truths of Jesus. We use Scripture memorization, worship, small group time, Bible-based lessons, the AWANA game circle and awards to achieve these goals. As the children work through their handbooks they are learning verses which cover salvation and who Jesus is.
TNT (3rd Grade — 6th Grade)
The AWANA TNT program is designed to train our children to be the church leaders of tomorrow. We use Scripture memorization, worship, evangelism and discipleship, small group time, the AWANA game circle and awards. This program takes children on the Ultimate Adventure through the Bible, teaching them life long lessons.
LIT (7th Grade — 12 Grade)
The Leader In Training program is for students in grades 7 – 12 who have grown up in the AWANA program. This program is designed to help students learn to serve under the guidance of the AWANA Club Directors. They continue to work in their handbooks, do service projects, and help the younger clubbers learn their verses. L.I.T.s meet at 5:30 to work in their handbooks and then report to their assigned club at 6:15 for the start of AWANA.
